Women are probably evolutionary closer to chimps than men

Genetics fully sequenced chimpanzee genome and were exceedingly suprised, writes Nature http://www.nature.com. The most dramatic differences between human and chimp are turn up in Y chromosome. Y chromosome is the smallest chromosome in human genome that acquires a male sex-determining function. It containes a little amount of genes in comparing with others human chromosomes. But exactly these genes most of all differ us from chimps.

Sex chromosomes evolved some 200 million–300 million years ago, but the chimpanzee and human lineages diverged only 6 million–7 million years ago. Chimp Y chromosome is 30-50% unmatched with human one. The remainder of the chimp and human genomes are thought to differ in gene number by less than 1%.

When scientists began the project of the chimp last residual chromosome sequence - Y chromosome - they hope to find at last what exactly differs chimp and human and what exactly does us human being. But most of its characterized genes are involved in producing sperm.
"The Y is full of surprises," says David Page of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts, who led the work. "When we sequenced the chimp genome people thought we'd understand why we have language and write poetry. But one of the most dramatic differences turns out to be sperm production."
In conclusion that also meens that men considerably differs form chimp than women because women have no Y chromosome. And men continue with evolution in contrast to women.
